Overview
ReadNest (“we”, “us”) helps you save articles you read on the web and reinforce them with spaced repetition. This policy explains what data the ReadNest web app (app.readnest.in) and the ReadNest Chrome extension collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect the minimum needed to make the product work — nothing more.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google to create and identify your account.
- Content you save. When you choose to “nest” an article or save a highlight, we store the page URL, title, the text you saved, and any notes you add. This only happens when you explicitly click to save — ReadNest does not read or collect page content in the background.
- Authentication tokens. To keep you signed in, the extension securely stores a session token issued by our authentication provider on your device.
How the extension uses permissions
- activeTab. Lets the extension read the title and content of the current tab only at the moment you click to save it.
- storage. Stores your session token locally so you stay signed in between visits.
- Host access. The extension communicates only with ReadNest’s own backend to save your content and verify your session.
How we use your information
We use your information solely to provide ReadNest’s features: saving your articles and highlights, syncing them across the web app and extension, and powering spaced-repetition review. We do not use your data for advertising.
How your data is stored and shared
Your data is stored using Supabase, our backend and database provider, and is protected by row-level security so that only you can access your own content. We use Google for sign-in. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers above that are required to operate ReadNest.
Your choices
You can delete any saved article or highlight at any time from within the app. You can request deletion of your entire account and associated data by contacting us at the email below. Signing out of the extension removes the stored session token from your device.
Children's privacy
ReadNest is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
